Knock Knock Knock,

Marcellus’s knuckles would rap sharply against the wooden door through which he was hoping to gain entry. “Is anyone inside?” Marcellus would only have to wait a moment at the door of Lulusia’s most successful Merchants guild before it would open and a tall man would step out onto the stoop next to Marcellus, closing the door behind him. “What do you want kid? We’re pretty busy.” The man who now addressed Marcellus was incredibly tall, standing at about 9 feet tall, towering over the young boy and drooping his long blue dreadlocks down in front of Marcellus’s face and obscuring his view. Pushing aside the dreads that nearly touched his face, he’d make direct eye contact with the taller man,“Well sir, I’m interested in joining your guild. I’ve developed a bit of a fascination with the sale of goods and believe that your group would be helpful in gaining knowledge and connections for it.”

While his words were mostly true, they didn’t tell the full story. Marcellus had more than an interest in selling goods, he had an obligation to help his parents grow their weapon’s dealing business during his journey as a member of the revolution. Joining the Merchant’s guild would only serve to help Marcellus by giving him access to more legitimate clientele as well as possibly a few tips to help him when he takes over.  “Well boy, unfortunately for you we have an age requirement to begin initiating into our ranks.” Well, there went Marcellus’s plans. His age was the one obstacle he had the most difficulty overcoming as his only real option was to wait for it to naturally solve itself as he got older.

Defeated, Marcellus would drop his head, and he’d be preparing to turn and exit when the tall gatekeeper would continue to ramble,“You shouldn’t feel bad though, we aren't really accepting anyone right now. Since those spies for the Queen were revealed all of the guilds have been hesitant to recruit anyone new.”  This information would stop Marcellus in the middle of his turn, causing a light bulb to go off in his head. Maybe this spies thing could be exactly what he needed to get himself in with the merchants and the other guilds of Lulusia,“What do you mean spies for the queen? What happened?” Marcellus was now pumped up again, gaining back whatever positivity he had lost upon being rejected; this was his shot. “Well,” the gatekeeper would hesitate to respond, only sighing and deciding to give up the information upon seeing the gleeful look on Marcellus’s face, “Not that it matters to you, but recently it was brought to light that on orders from the Queen some royal guards working as spies infiltrated some of the guilds around here and a member of one of them was killed. Some of the men were caught but we don’t really know if there will be other so we can’t risk taking any new members for a while.” Upon finishing his anecdote the gatekeeper would be surprised to see Marcellus now beaming even more brightly.

The situation made sense to Marcellus, but he wasn’t about to simply allow it to stop him from getting what he wanted. “Easy solution then,” Marcellus would say while fishing through his pockets to eventually find and pull out a flag with the symbol of the revolutionary army on it, “I, Marcellus Wesson of the Revolutionary Army, vow to find and take down every spy that was compromised, in order to send a message to anyone that wants to follow in their footsteps.” Marcellus would then take his flag and drop it onto the doorstep of the Guild Hall. “Anyone who steps over this flag will be considered disrespectful to the Revolutionary army and will be dealt with swiftly by my own hand. Let your guild know that no one will be bothering you while I’m handling this business.” The Gatekeeper would of course be shocked by Marcellus’s words and actions, but he’d develop a faith in the boy with just a look into his eyes and at the fire within them. In that moment he’d decide to trust Marcellus despite his young age, “Fine then, I,Wataru Greyold of the Lulusia Merchants Guild, trust you Marcellus to handle this task for me with a promise of membership to the guild should you succeed.” Then, taking care to avoid stepping directly over the flag marcellus had lain at his doorstep, he’d open the door and allow Marcellus to enter the guild hall so that he could start his mission.

Lulusia was a mess, and unfortunately it had taken Lee far too long to realise this fact. The commonfolk were miserable, and couldn't trust anyone of their own for fear of them being an informant for someone else. The nobles took one look at a commoner and, if they decided they didn't like them, could have them executed on the spot for no reason, meanwhile the queen sat on her throne and did nothing to stop this madness. Worse, she had even gone out of her way to increase the hostility. Alongside all the mistrust that had already existed, the queen sent out some of her royal guards into the common ground to seek out those that would seek to end her reign prematurely. At the time, perhaps it had seemed like a great idea to help deal with those wishing to start a revolt, but it had backfired tremendously. The royal guards had attacked a guild suspected to have gone rogue, killing every member without remorse. That had revealed their existence, but not all of them. Lee could only imagine what effect that had had on the common people of Lulusia: finding out that their queen suspected each of them of treachery, and would happily kill anyone she suspected capable of even contemplating it. Such was the state of the kingdom, a broken kingdom full of mistrust and deceit.

That's what brought Lee into the streets of the common ground this day, dressed in a simple enough getup of a white t-shirt, blue trousers, a grey jacket tied around his waist, and his red headband tightly covering the third eye on his forehead. Despite going out in his civilian gear, Lee still had a pair of black gloves tucked away in his right pocket, and a pistol tucked down the back of his trousers, his jacket doing a decent job of hiding the fact he had a firearm with him. He wasn't out on a mission, not today, but instead he wanted to understand the island he had been stationed to. He wanted to get to know the people that were entrusting their liberty to the marines, even if none of them wished to have anything to do with him. The laws of this kingdom were cruel, and Lee had no choice but to follow them to the letter, provided he was out as a marine. But he hadn't been on the island long enough for anyone to recognise his face outside of a select few marines, so today no one would know who he was. He would simply be another man on the island, someone who wouldn't stand for tyranny. He was a plain enough looking individual as it was, with the only unique thing about Lee's appearance being his red headband, but he couldn't remove that. Showing off his third eye was never on the agenda, no matter what kind of day it was.

The issue was that Lee had no plan to actually introduce himself to the people of Lulusia, and helped out. Given the situation of the island, it was unlikely anyone would accept a strangers help, and the guild's weren't recruiting anyone from what he could see. Apparently, that was, except one, as Lee watched a man enter one of the merchant guilds. It was, perhaps, a jump to presume the man didn't belong in the guild, and had just been granted access, but Lee had some evidence to prove his theory. The guilds in Lulusia hadn't recruited any new members for what seemed like weeks, perhaps longer, so that likely meant that someone acting as a door guard would know the faces of every member of the guild, and allow them entry. And if that indeed was the case, why did he come outside the front door, closing it behind him, to talk to the dark skinned man who had just entered? It didn't add up, and prompted Lee, out of curiosity more than anything else, to walk up to the same door, noting the flag of the revolutionary army on the ground, and give it a knock, which allowed the nine foot tall, and very intimidating looking, man to come out once more. Lee had to completely make up his story, and hope the man believed him, so he did just that, gesturing to the flag as he spoke, "Samuel Ryan, I'm an initiate for the army, may I come in?"

Miraculously it worked and, despite the clearly suspicious look on the bouncer's face, Lee made his way into the guild hall, deciding to sit in one of the more darkened corners as he listened to whatever the hell was going on. It must've been interesting, since very few eyes looked his way as he entered, another silent miracle on Lee's part. How long could he keep this streak of luck going, he wondered.

Marcellus allowed the tall man from the front of the guildhall to lead him inside, eager to get into his mission. The adult male led the young teen to the main room of the guildhall, a circular room with walls and floors of marble as white as cotton and a diameter of 10 meters. The 12 meters high ceilings made the short dark skinned male feel even smaller than he usually did; as he was able to gaze up and see the mural of the night sky that was painted onto the ceiling which seemed almost impossibly far from where he stood.

Wataru allowed the revolutionary to continue to admire the beauty of his room for a while longer before interrupting him,"So, I have in my hands a collection of every bit of information we have gathered about those few men who were found to be working undercover in the guilds." His utterance of the word so was quickly followed by a snap, which not only drew Marcellus' gaze away from the tall stranger in a T-shirt who had entered the hall not long after them, but also caused one of his men to come forth from the shadows and hand him the stack of papers that he had just been telling Marcellus about. "These papers should have everything you need to know about these men in order to hunt them down, I'm trusting that as a member of the revolutionary army you'll be able to handle such a simple task without needing any of my men to accompany you." Marcellus took in Wataru's words with a scoff of indignation,"Yeah dawg you don't gotta worry bout shit if I'm on the job. Those fucks were pretty much dead the second I told you I was gonna take em down for you."

Wataru raised his eyebrow slightly as Marcellus's was of speaking was something he didn't hear often, but he was able to look past it. "Fine then, come back once you've completed your task and membership into the merchants guild and all of the perks that come with it will be yours." Marcellus had no doubt about his ability to finish his task, but there was a single thing that still bothered him as he took the papers from Wataru's hands and prepared to leave,"How will you know that my job is done? Should I bring back something to work as proof that all the guys are dealt with?" Wataru only chuckled at Marcellus's concerns,"No need for all that. Word gets around pretty quick around her especially when the merchants are involved. We have our ways of making sure we have information in case we need it to make  sale."

Satisfied with Wataru's answer Marcellus turned and left the guildhall, attempting to make eye contact with the tall man who had come int after him, with no intention of breaking eye contact once it was established.  Something about the tall gentleman put Marcellus on edge, and he felt like it may be something more than the man's height intimidating him and making him uncomfortable. He intended to keep eye contact between them as he left, going out onto the street and looking down at the papers he had been given. "These guys are all the same to me, but I guess the one on the top of the stack is the one I can take care of first." Marcellus looked down at the paper on top of the stack, taking note of the man's appearance and reading the description of him that was on it. Marcellus smiled, excited for what was coming next."Guess I'll be seeing you soon Mr. Alex Watanabe."

As Lee entered the room, looking for the man who had entered before him, he couldn't help but appreciate the majesty of the building. A huge, marble room, with a beautiful ceiling depicting the night sky. Lee could've stayed there for hours just appreciating it, but unfortunately he only had a brief moment to take it all in before he saw the dark skinned man, almost just as the man in question turned his head to talk with the tall bouncer. Lee had to make his way around the room, keeping to the shadows, so that he could listen to what it was the men would be talking about. If nothing else, his mission had now become more interesting. Before, he had just wanted to know more about the guilds, and understand why the fear existed, but now he was close to getting tied up with the revolutionary army. If he was an idiot, he would attempt to arrest everyone here for assisting enemies of the world government, but somehow he didn't think that would be a fruitful endeavour. Besides, there was another reason to sit and listen: the merchants guild were upstanding member of the Lulusian society. They had their reasons for mistrusting strangers, but for some reason they were willing to work with this man, that alone was reason enough to see where this would lead.

Lee made it close enough to hear what was being said, but even then only had snippets to piece it all together. Luckily, the men weren't even trying to hide their true intentions and, from the few choice words Lee had picked up -'men', 'undercover', 'guilds'- he had quickly surmised the reason they were here. The revolutionary was given a stack of paper, no doubt the information on those very men, by which point the marine was able to hear everything else that was being said, confirming his suspicions that this man was here to hunt down the men that had infiltrated the guilds, and free the people of the common grounds from the fear that every action they took was being watched. It was a noble cause, and one Lee wanted to assist with, albeit not one he could join as a marine. Today, despite how it might stain his heart, he would have to work for the 'enemy'.

As the dark skinned man left the guild hall, he kept his eyes fixed on Lee, who returned the gaze without revealing any emotion, simply keeping his eyes on the man who kept his eyes on him. Once the man left, Lee himself walked out of the guild, looking for the man and, after spotting him, deciding to follow him for a time. Lee still didn't know whether his intentions were true but, by tailing him, he hoped to find out. The difficulty would come in the path the man would take, whether he would go through the alleyways or stick to the main streets, as well as the fact that Lee had never tailed anyone before, and had no idea how to properly do it. The man had also seen Lee's face, and not just in a passing glance. He had stared at him, likely putting the face to memory. A simple glance backwards would be enough for the revolutionary to spot the three eyed marine, but that mattered little. Today, Lee wasn't a marine. In truth, he wasn't sure what he was.

As he followed the man, Lee thought back to something one of his commanding officers. Captain Shooter McGavin, the tall marksman, had once said something about members of the revolutionary army that had stuck with Lee.  "Revolutionaries can disrupt the peace of everyone on the island if left unchecked. However I've met plenty of good ones that really only want to help make the world a better place." Perhaps the man that Lee was following was one of them, perhaps not. If nothing else, it had taught Lee that the world was a much more confusing place than the World Government liked to think. Pirates could be good, marines could be evil, the world was full of strange individuals, and no one could be completely judged by who they answered to. After all Lulusia was run by a queen who affiliated herself with the World Government, but Lulusia was a broken land, one that Lee hoped to change, he just didn't know how.
