Roma Velts

"There are just as many ways for me to hurt you then their is to heal you."
-Roma Velts-"

Roma stood in front of her bathroom mirror looking at her crooked black tie adjusting it so it lay perfectly between what little breasts she had managed to grow, usually she wouldn't bother with such things but due to her promotion to Commodore more citizens and fellow marine's alike were beginning to look at her and if anything she wanted to look the part.

So here she was adjusting her black tie with a small red gem that belonged to the Velt family and their symbol at the bottom laying on top of her plain white cotton dress shirt while a dark brown vest with four golden buttons going down the center was placed over it, there was usually a chain but Roma had removed it because of how overbearing it felt to wear it. She slowly rolled her hand over her black dress pants feeling the smooth texture as her appearance took her back to the time she used to look at her father who was the symbol of pride and regal appearance, that was until the fall...

Roma quickly shook her head physically trying to shake the thoughts off as she turned to the right grabbing her marine coat of justice slipping it on before walking out of her bathroom and into her main room, she had been living on Lulusia for quite some time and had made a home but with her new rank her presence would be constantly needed elsewhere so she had five newly appointed marine soldiers move her things to her brand new ship that would be in her new home, she took a moment to look at her empty apartment allowing herself to wallow in the sentimental aspect of leaving her home.

After a few minutes Roma took a deep breath and grabbed the last of her things packed up into a suitcase, she began to make her way to her door and once she reached it she grabbed the knob but turned around to look at her home one last time, she cracked a smile as she turned back towards the door opening it and walking out and closing it back again for what would be the last time.  With her suitcase in hand, she began to make her way towards Lulusia Harbor to set sail on her new ship along with Ensign Rindaman who apparently was a proficient navigator.

Rindaman

Rindaman
Today was the promised day, it seemed that a lot was leading towards this day, even though Rinda had about less than 24 hours to prepare for their voyage to another island. Roman entrusted him with quite a bit of coin, so Rinda was trying to figure out a good use for it for the rest of the night. He dwelled on it quite a bit, but then Rinda started to realize that there would have to be something that he would be able to offer this team as a way of thanks towards Roma for allowing him to come along.

However, he couldn't think of much besides his bulk and way around a fisticuffs bout that would shine above the rest. That was Rinda's current thoughts until he stumbled across a few maps he used to look at in his spare time.

"Oh right, I'm really good at this..aren't I?"

It finally hit him, Rindaman was actually a pretty good navigator, it was just that his skills were a little rusty due to only practicing in theory and not being called upon to navigate a ship on his own. At the very least he was the assistant navigator to other marines that currently holds that position. This time, he would be in charge of the lives of his comrades as the main navigator that's going to get them to the island that they needed to go.

"I'll need some supplies then..and a map..."

The following day, Rindaman reported to the ship that they were supposed to meet at, pacing around Lulusia Harbor with his luggage.

Roma was walking down the alley to the Lulusia's Harbor, her mind raced with various thoughts such as finding a base of operations other than the marine base for her newly formed team for them to plan and gather, usually the actually marine base would be good for that but Roma didn't know Karakuri Island well and there were chances that spies from either Captain Yua or this revolutionary Craif we're positioned on the island so she preferred to be cautious until she knew most of the marine's stationed on the island. There was also the paper that the Rear Admiral had given her yesterday detailing the whereabouts of a marine he felt had more experience than him, she couldn't help wonder what type of marine they were to gain such praise from her superior officer and what he could he teach her to add on to her value as a marine officer.

Roma let out a sigh as she walked out of the alleyway turning the corner to the harbor, she could see Rindaman pacing back and forth like a child waiting for their parent and it kinda made her want to laugh but she held it in as she approached them, "Glad to see you're eager Officer Rindaman, I trust you made the necessary goodbye's?" Roma would listen to anything he had to say as a brand new ship pulled into the harbor, "There it is, our new home." The ship was beautiful, it was a medium-sized two-masted Caravel eighty meters long ship to stern, and forty-five meters wide.

As it stopped near the edge of the harbor five men wearing marine uniforms could be seen as they shoved out the boardwalk for Rindaman and Roma to come on board, "Welcome Commodore Roma and Ensign Rindaman! We have been chosen to accompany you in the journey as you're crew hand!" One of the marines spoke loudly, "I see, be at ease. I will be going into my quarters, for now, Rindaman will instruct you men on setting sail." Roma reached into her pants pocket pulling out a device similar to a compass displaying it to Rindaman, "This is a log pose, as the navigator you will need this to steer the ship to Karakuri, I entrust this to you" Roma said holding it out for Rindaman to take.

After seeing Roma in the distance, he walked over and gave her a nod.

"It wasn't much, just a few bunkmates. So I'm not really leaving anything behind, I'm sure that the paths of all of us will cross again one day in some kind of way."

Rinda wasn't one for sappy goodbyes, but he also used the money to leave a present for some of his good friends.

"I spent all night studying a few maps and reading some books that I bought about proper navigation. I have to admit, I wasn't too confident in my ability to direct us, so I had a little bit of a refresher course in order to get myself ready for the trip. The books were a bit expensive, but it was a worthwhile investment. I feel as if it's important to have someone that's competent on your side, this is just me adding a lot more to my plate. Oh, and once again, thank you for the money. From what you heard a second ago, I really put it to good use, as well as me earning my keep on this squad from now on. "

Though, he did start to think about the other two members in general, as well as what they would be calling themselves throughout the course of the mission and future missions that they would be having. If they were going to garner some fame among the marines and a bit of fear and concern through the pirate and revolutionary forces, it would have to include a symbol that would properly represent them.

"Commodore Roma, did you think of a name for our group yet? It's ok if you haven't, I just wonder if you had something in mind?"

But that was before the ship came in, the size of the thing nearly took Rindaman's breath away. The greeting of the marines was also a sight to behold, they were starting to become a legit force.

"Thanks, i'll guide you guys safely.."

After walking into the ship and being told that Rindaman would take command on how the men would set sail, he was then given the Log pose to use by Roma. He slowly moved his hand towards the log pose and grasped it firmly.

"I'll use it with care! Alright, Marines! Let's get ready to set sail after we all got accustomed to the ship!"

Upon leaving officer Rindaman behind to take charge of the voyage to Karakuri she grabbed her luggage and began making her way to her personal quarters, originally her quarters was also the command room but realizing she would have no privacy she had the men install a whole wall and a door to make it a separate room further back, for Roma who had been living in a small apartment up until then the room although smaller now with her living quarters separated from the whole of the command room it still was quite spacious for her.

When she arrived a the door to her quarters she slowly opened it somewhat afraid she would hate it but once it creaked open enough that feeling of nervousness flew away,

Roma's personal quarters:

The lightning of the room due to some lighted candles and the natural light of the windows at the very back of the room was perfect, her bed was to the right side adorned with a pull cover to block the light coming from the window even when it was daylight, a piano to use in her times of deep thought or distress to relax her, a desk also near the window to do her work, and a table with chairs around it so her new squad could talk in private without unwanted ears hearing them, everything about her room was perfect to her, there was even a second bed for a trusted crew member could sleep with her on the opposite of the room.

Roma was full of happiness as she skipped along the room to sit in her personal desk, much like her old superiors her desk was made of mahogany wood giving it a regal appearance, out of the corner of her eye she could see something slightly shining in the corner and when she turned her chair it was the same staff she saw on the night in the raid standing there, a prize to the accomplishment of her first raid and a solemn promise to take Captain Yua down by defeating him with the weapon he left behind.

Roma relaxed into her chair taking a deep breath as she let herself fall asleep while she let Rindaman control the journey completely sure he was capable.

Before they went on their way, one of the first things that Rinda did was put his suitcase in a cabin that he claimed as his own. It didn't take too much space, with Rinda trying to be mindful of the others that were going to hop on the ship as well. If anything, Rinda knew that he didn't need much to live his life or continue living with his own chosen lifestyle. He was rather frugal with Beli, which is why he was so surprised to see Roma pull out so much and hand it over to him. He liked to save, and leftovers could last him about a week until he needed to cook something new. That was the kind of guy Rinda was, he was conservative.

But in this case, Rinda spared no expense in performing a detailed visual check. Inspect all the standing rigging—the cables and ropes that support the mast—including the turnbuckles and things of that nature. He had one of the marines walk him through it all in order to make sure that the ship was in tip-top shape and ready to set sail. Rinda wasn't a shipwright, so the only things that concerned him were the problems that could affect their ability to sail and maneuver while they were at sea.

After a while, Rinda felt a little more comfortable with the ship and realized that he was in change for the moment as Roma went to get accustomed to the master's cabin.

"Set sail for Karakuri!"
