Before they were famous! [Flashback][Open] 3d5b3184bf79780b26dc2b8d7af1ffe0

Cold..... the snow....the snow between her bare feet, her entire small body shuddered over and over again. The large gun in her hand trailed behind her. For miles and miles, if you looked hard enough, you would see the small footprints traveling, the trail where the shotgun got too heavy to hold in her small hands. The long black hair covered in wood chips, shavings. Her small pink nighty moist from the gentle falling snow, yet something was off. Her nighty was splattered in a red liquid, the same liquid that covered her hands, that was splotched on the right side of her face, as if she had held something close to her face. The large blue eyes wide, unblinking, looking forward. Never halting. The tears that streamed from her face came less and less, yet they had yet to halt, the skin under her eyes red from rubbing.

"Glasses..........glasses......glasses" she whispered into the night sky, her footwork becoming more and more unstable, She stumbled, her little legs intertwining as they caught one another. Thankfully her fall was minor, the snow created a cushion, yet the small petite five year old remained face down. "Gl...a..glasses.....gla....glasses" she continued to speak into the snow, her body continued to shake and shiver, the cold of the snow...it began to fade, her breathing was becoming erratic, yet she continued to repeat the same word, the same thing over and over again. Why was she obsessed with glasses.

The charred black ash on her nighty against the pure white snow was a harsh contrast, yet even throughout the smell of smoke and blood, the scent of her fathers aftershave powered through, filling her nostrils, her heart beat faster, her eyes stung as tears began to flow once more, a boiling bubble growing within her throat. She could not help it, she had to let it out. As her hand cured around the shotgun, as hard as she could, with one, blood-curdling shriek, she let out a single word, a different word that echoed through the night sky. "PAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPAAAAAAAAAA". Then the shroud of death, within a cold embrace attempted to claim her. She wasn't too far from Bighorn. The vast medical town. Would someone come to find her? would she be saved?

David
The snow that drifted down from the sky obscured the large shape that was David, who was currently walking through the snow with little difficulty. The bow which was slung across his chest was one he had had for the longest time, ever since he was 'Bought' by his 'owner'. A concept David didn't really understand but still complied with none the less. He was fed and was left to his own musing for most days, only really having to destroy ships with a black flag and those were getting rarer these days. Now however, David was returning to the castle where he and his 'Owner' resided having gathered plenty of wood from the forest. Nothing on this island every contested David when he did.

Trailing behind David was a group of 10 large fern trees tied together by a very course rope that was practically hand made given the current state of it, which was barely holding together. However the rope held, something that seemed to defy the logic of its state. The rope which was wound around the ten trees went up over David's shoulder where David's left arm held onto the end. David had been trudging across the island for about an hour by this point, the cold around him hardly bothering him with his fur lined clothes and natural thick skin of a Giant made sure he wasn't at all cold. Even the bits of bare skin which was showing. Every step David took shook the ground slightly, simply due to his height and bulk making the snow covered ground have a bit of trouble keeping the force of his steps down.

David faced forward as he slowly walked his way through the snow covered island, his goal in the distance. The very large yet strange mountain which at the top housed the Castle he lived at. It wouldn't be long till David made it to the lift which would carry him up to the top, one specifically built for him. The old king who bought him then died wasn't a man to allow his 'Property' to be very far from him. David's large yet even stride carried him faster then a horse moving at a Trots pace, meaning he would arrive at the lift before the hour was done.

Of course that was before David's gaze turned to the small shape which was currently embracing the snow covered field a bit to the right of his path. At first David thought it some rock until he was closer and realized it was a small human, something that struck him as odd considering how they tended to stick to their homes unless they were out with their mothers or fathers. With the thought, David looked left and right across the large open field to see if he couldn't spy the small one's family to find nothing. With scratch of his right hand to his helmeted head, David would return his gaze to the small form. His gaze were on the small one's form for a minute before he stopped over at the waist, reaching with his right hand at the same time. Grabbing the small one with his forefinger and thumb lightly, David would lift them till they were at his eye level so he could see them better. What he saw did not make him feel at all better, the small one's cloths covered in blood, soot, and ash while the ones hair seemed to be filled with wood. Even the small one's facial features were covered with the first three, and was quite pale.

Looking across the field one again with the movement of his head, David would return his vision to the small one held in his grip. Dropping the rope which was in his left hand, David turned his attention to his left hand which was covered in its gauntlet. Shaking his hand a bit, his gauntlet slid off and fell to the ground below with a loud thud. Putting the small one in his warm left hand, he would start rubbing his thumb across the small ones body the thumb being as big as they. Picking up his left gauntlet with his right, he would tuck it under his left arm and pick up the rope with his right and continue moving towards the lift. The small town surrounding it should have someone who could surely take care of the small one.

Before they were famous! [Flashback][Open] 3d5b3184bf79780b26dc2b8d7af1ffe0

The pitter-patter of tiny feet echoed throughout the corridor, water lay upon the ground an inch deep, splashing gently upon each step. The bare feet of the young girl glistening in the reflection of the mirrored walls of the strange space, heavy breathing became louder and more frantic. Though darkness surrounded her, she could make out the walls, glowing a faint blue, yet she did not focus her attention there. Her big water eyes were firmly planted directly in front of her, a spotlight in the darkness surrounded a familiar frame. A giant among men within the eyes of the little girl, the rugged and battle worn giant, with muscles larger than the head of an average man, his arms extended as he knelt, reaching out for the girl. Many would be afraid of his appearance, scars littering his skin, burn marks upon his chin, a missing eye that he used to cover. Not this girl though, she ran with all her might, tears leaking from her eyes. "Pappa" she said within her high pitched voice, her breathing making the word seem huskier. "Come on Princess, you can do it". His voice, gentle for his appearance, beautiful, a song to her ears, it spurred her on.

Yet try as she could, no matter how many steps she took, she could not reach him, as if she were running upon a treadmill going no were. She knew she was moving, she could tell by the indentations of the mirrors upon the walls. She was certainly passing them. "PAAAAPPPAAA" she shouted, this time her voice came out in a screech, fear filling her body, she could not reach him. "PAAPAAAA PAPPA," she sobbed as she ran, reaching her petite arms out as much as she could, willing them to grow so that she could touch his once more. "MELISSA, HIDE" Her father said as he stood within the light. "NO PAPA, NO" she shouted as she continued to run. "FUFUFUFUFUFUFU" The deep, strange laugh burst through the air, ringing in her ears, it bounced all around her, yet at the same time felt as though the voice was laughing directly in to her ears. She covered them with her hands as she ran. All the time shouting for her father. "PAAAAAAPAAAAA" yet her words would no longer come out, her mouth moved, but nothing came from her small throat. From the mirroed walls a hazy image appeared in each one, the silhouette of a man, though his face and appearance were shadowed, the small purple tinted glasses that sat upon his nose were vivid in color. As Melissa passed each mirror it exploded with a BANG

BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG

Each gun shot caused a mirror to explode, transforming into bits of wood shards to blow outwards, covering the young girl as she ran. Though it came for her eyes, she continued to keep them straight forward, fear and adrenaline forcing her to run, at five years old, her nightmare was reality. She knew what came next. BANG a final gunshot, the large beautiful man that was her pappa gently turned his head, locking eyes with the young girl who ran, screaming a silent scream of his name. Her voice hoarse from the word. He smiled, though his eyes held sorrow for the girl he would miss seeing grow. He hit the ground and finally she could approach him, skidding into the crimson water that was tinted with his blood. She found her voice as she held him with one final screech. "PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Her mind had tormented her enough of these events, but this was not the first time it played over as she lay in the snow, it continued on and on, with her body and voice outside of her mind twitching as the giant rubbed at her, her voice mumbling the words she screamed, though upon warmth returning to her body as the giant walked with her, the jerking of her small frame would slowly halt, her breathing would return to normal eventually and as she opened her eyes, for a second she swore it was him. "P...Pappa" she said, her mouth contorting into a weak smile, then her eyes rolled as darkness swallowed her once more, though her slumber now was still, not a dream, not a nightmare....just darkness.

Bighorn. The small settlement that surrounded the largest of the lifts which go to the King of Drum's island, and the town David sees the most of since he first came to the island. It was the main way for David to go and collect trees for arrows, along with whatever task his 'Owner' wishes him to fulfill. With David's large size it had taken him and the small one in his hands less then an hour to reach the village, his prediction earlier having been true. With the small one in hand, still having warmth rubbed into her by his just as large thumb, and the ten trees he planned to use for arrows in tow, David entered the village.

Many people were already inside due the cold and how late at night it was, as such most people didn't notice David's entrance into town. Those that did however simply looked at him for a moment before going about their business. David was an occasional occurrence at this point, as such the people were used to his comings and goings. It was what tended to happen when you did it for over thirty years with little deviation. David travel down the main road, a road that lead from outside of town directly to the lift. It was mainly used by Solders and David, the solders when they needed to transport large amounts of items up onto the mountain, and David as it is the only way to go up and down the mountain for a giant besides climbing down.

David had continued walking through the road idly rubbing the small one's body with no real clue on what to do with them. At first David had sought to find someone in town that may be able to help them but now that he thought about it, he knew no one who could actually take care of the small one. It also seemed impudent to take her to his 'Owner's' castle as they would probably make her into a slave... Well, David supposed he should just start knocking on some doors then.

Though David said this, most attempts to receive help were met with terrified yells or no one answering at all. Even when he attempted to explain the situation, his knack to take a minute to form his sentences made people slam their door at him for wasting their time. Truly it was quite a tough situation. Even the solders stationed at the lift seemed to just not car, as they ignored his every attempt to speak with him or just walk away, with words of 'Call them when it was something important'. Clearly these men did not care for the life of the small one.

So it was only thirty minutes before David found himself sitting right outside of town out the way of the main road, and simply sitting there idly continuing to feed warmth into the small one. David quite simply wasn't sure on what to do, asking for assistance was simply not working and taking her up to the castle may yet be a worse fate for the small one... For now David had to figure out a better way to warm the small one besides rubbing it into her.

With his still gauntleted right hand, David would dig into the snow and remove the snow and ice deposited there until he reached the frozen ground, a full two meters under. David set the small one in the small clearing the size of his hand before taking a part of the fur skirt he wore, only a small square hat would hardly be missed. Picking the small one up once more, he would place the small square in the clearing and place the small one on top of it. Pulling out his carving knife, David pulled a tree over to him and started chopping branches off of the trees, only 2 or 3 before stopping. A bit away from the small square where the small one lay, David took his knife and his small whet stone for said knife, and started striking sparks onto the pile of branches. It took a bit to get going due to the wood being wet, but David did start a small fire (Read as; bonfire) which would slowly start fighting back the cold night. David took the tree he had slightly carved before, and started carving away the side branches, seeing as he had nothing to do he thought to might as well carve his arrows here. Though it would only be the shaft and nothing else, it was still better then nothing. An added bonus being that David could add the left over branches and greenery to the fire to keep it lit. David would stay there until the small one woke up so they could plan a course of action. It was very much not in the small one's best interest to make a decision without their input.

The warmth that the giant had invited into her would be greatly appreciated, the young child after a few minutes of laying wrapped within the fur would gently stir. Living in Drum, fur was a commonly used bed cover and the softness [even if it had been from a skirt] had a familiar feel. Enough that upon her eyes fluttering open, she had for a single instant, forgotten what had happened mere hours ago, "Papa" she said, her voice husky from dehydration, dry from screaming. The blazing roar of the large fire flowed through her ears, bringing her fuzzy vision to the large mountain in the same vicinity. The sound of wood being shaven down, a sound she knew all too well, her father had been handy with his hands, he had built their home, fixed it when it broke, made her wooden ornaments...all of which....

"Pappa" she said as a sob formed in her throat. She had cried for so long, her tears surely had to have been dried up. Though no liquid came from her eyes, the bubble in her throat dispersing as her small eyes tried to take in the sight in front of her. The giant was huge, no that was an understatement. He was whitlling, the camp fire itself seemed large enough to cook her in. With such a mind, her father having also read her many a story of giants, of course, fairy tales but as a young child she was unable differentiate from reality and tales that had been built up in her head.

Frantically the young girl looked around, not realizing that her hands within this cold had remained clamped around the hilt of the shotgun, her fathers weapon. "Pa..pa" she said once more as she pushed the fur from her, shakily she would try to push herself to her feet but this would end with her falling back to her bottom, her strength had wained so much, she could not run from this giant. With her gun pulled to her chest, she held it as best she could, using her wobbly knees to balance the barrel, her hands upon the trigger as she shook rapidly. "......G...GIANT...." she shouted, her voice shaking not from the cold, but from fear, though her shouts were rough from the dry throat. "YOU WONT EAT ME" she screamed as she pulled the trigger. The trigger clicked, signaling the empty barrel, she pulled again and again though to no avail, a good thing too since the recoil would have done more damage to her than a spray of bullets would have done to a giant. Her eyes widened as she tried to look to the face of the giant. "Noo" she said as softly as she could...

As David awaited the small one's awakening, he had returned his gauntlet to his hand and began carving away the entirety of the branches and shrubbery of one tree, though he was currently in the process of whittling said arrow down so it was not so thick. By doing this he also managed to manage the balance of the arrow shaft by directly choosing how to cut and in what way. It ways always better to make your own arrows, so you can make sure they're actually well suited... Well, its not like David has a choice in the matter. No sold arrows in his size for cheap.

David was actually quite caught up in the carving of his arrows that at first he didn't even notice the small one's awakening, instead having taken to quietly thinking about his carving and enjoying the crackling of the fire that was on the opposite side of the small one's body. It was only when the small one sat up from where she slept that finally caught David's attentions, though he didn't speak. David allowed the small one to come to the realization of where she was, disorientation could be a bad thing considering he found the small one in the cold embrace of the snow.

The reaction David received from the small one was not the one he was expecting, it had seemed David had become far to accustomed to people simply not reacting to him anymore. As such, David simply raised his empty left hand and scratched the side of his helmet in confusion while looking at the small one who's back was to the bonfire. With a shrug of his shoulders, David would contend himself with thinking of the correct words to say in the give situation while he carved away at the tree.

it would take him a minute to collect his thoughts into some sort of sentence. Whether his words would be effective was yet to be scene. Turning away from his work, David would look once more upon the small one and start speaking in a calming tone. "Peace, Small One. I mean you no harm, nor do I wish to eat you." He spoke while continuing his carving subconsciously with naught even a glance at the soon to be arrow in his hands. "I came across your person freezing in the snow as I was returning home from gathering material." David said, punctuating his words by point at the mountain in the distance with his carving knife, before returning it to continue his carving. "I was hoping you could tell me why you are by yourself, Small One. Surely your cloths are not suitable for being worn in this weather, nor did you seem to be at all prepared for a night walk." David continued, speaking in his still calming tone while also speaking logically. His intention to calm the small one down was hopefully conveyed, though he continued to watch her to make sure she did not hurt herself with that large weapon she carried.

Before they were famous! [Flashback][Open] 3d5b3184bf79780b26dc2b8d7af1ffe0

When Melissa would realise this mountain of a man meant her no harm, she would melt back into the furs, pulling them up to cover her body, "I hate the snow" she mumbled as she sat, her legs pulled up to her chest. The empty shotgun still wrapped in her hands, she couldn't let it go, even if it were no longer a viable weapon. Her eyes continued to flicker over the giant, again and again and again. What had happened? Her mind was blurry from shock, she tried to recall what had happened. The true story was that marines had come to her home and slaughtered her father, an old pirate famed back in the day. Except these marines had attacked an unarmed family man and had not cared if they had murdered a young girl in the process. If it had not been for her fathers instincts..she would have also died today. Instead she survived. Yet her mind would not grant her this information all it would give her was...."Papa's......gone.........heaven" she said pointing her petite finger to the sky.

Though her eyes did not leave the giant she wracked her brain for something, she had promised her father, she had told him if she ever met a giant, she would find out three important things. First was if they ate children, this man had granted her knowledge that they did not. "Mr....G..Giant sir.....do you breathe fire?" she said softly twiddling the butt of the shotgun..."and do you have magical powers, like can you grant me wishes and stuff?" she wondered. What kind of stories had her father told her? The young girl looked eager, hoping that the answer to the last question would be a yes. IF so she could see her family once more! She could bring forth her father from the pure lands and back to her side.

David allowed the small one the peace to think upon her answers, with the continued sound of David's knife carving away the bark around the tree trunk now which he continued to use to feed the fire. While still far to small for someone as large as David, the small one should be quite happy with the bonfire considering not long ago she was suffering from a bad cold. David turned to look at the small one when she spoke about the white snow that covered the land around them. David honestly forgot it exist sometimes, it was not nearly enough to get through his thick skin or cloths so it mainly just reduced his visibility though that tended to only be during some of the worse storms. David would however turn his head back to his carving to see how it was coming along.

However it would be the next words spoken that actually made David take full stock of the small one. He wouldn't full turn towards the small one, rather only turning his head to look down at her from the corner of his right eye with sympathy. His carving continued on, however. The rhythmic sounds not changing despite the news that the small one brought to David. David, while not having his full memories, understood the shock that the loss of a loved one could bring. He had out lived most slaves brought to live in the Drum Castle, being a giant that the lord couldn't do much to tended to do that. As such, he has been through a lord and seen multiple slaves die to various things. None particularly made him feel much. He never interacted with his lords outside of the parties they tended to throw, nor the slaves as most were to scared to approach him except to bring him his food. David didn't respond to the small one's admittance of their father, but he still offered a silent prayer to the unknown man. More then one person should mourn the passing of someone.

It was in regards to the ridiculous questions asked of David, he actually stopped carving to look down at the small one. David only looked at her for a few moments before going back to his carving, yet keeping his eye on the small one. David contemplated for a moment how best to approach the small one's questions. He couldn't outright deny the small one, else risk sending her into a possible depression, yet he couldn't accept and be held up to expectations he couldn't meet. After a full minute of thinking, David would respond to the small one's questions. "Hmmm, not sure I have been asked those questions before... But in regards to your question, No I can not breathe fire... Course, I never actually tried." David said, looking up at the sky in a moment of contemplation, before quickly returning to look at the small one. "In regards to your second question... I can grant wishes... But not magical ones. I am no fairy, small one. I am only a simple man in everything but size. Even then size hardly matters to many." David said with a bit of hesitation when he started, but quickly losing it when he tried to explain it. "I can however give you three 'wishes' small ones. As one such as you who has faced hard ship recently I feel you should have something to ease your burden. You may ask anything of me, and I will do it to the best of my ability. But be forewarned Small one, you shall only receive these three and no more." David said, his gaze returned to his carving, his brow underneath his helmet furrowed in frustration that this is the best he could possibly do for the small one. But he soon sighed and released that frustration. It would have no use at this time.

"Could I wish for more wishes?" she asked curiously, her large blue eyes looking to the giant. She cocked her head slightly. "Ouch" she said rubbing her neck. "You are too big" she said crossing her arms. "I..I know my first wish...really its my only wish...." she said softly though hopefully loud enough for the great monster of a giant to hear her. "Can you.....CAN YOU PLEASE BRING MY DADDY BACK" she shouted. "NO....I WISH FOR YOU OH GIANT, PLEASE RETURN MY PAPPA TO ME" she shouted raising her hand, a smile upon her face. This was it, this was fate, she had met the magical giant and...and he was going to bring him back to her. He was going to show her that her father would come back.

The little girl had such joy on her face, she had such a big grin and was so excited, it was...well it was magical. She couldn't help it as the tears began to flow once more. "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR GIANT, I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE OTHER TWO WISHES, JUST USE ALL THESE WISHES FOR THIS ONE. I WANT MY DADDY BACK SO MUCH" she screamed waving her hand into the air. "COME BACK DADDY, HE'S GOING TO BRING YOU BACK TO ME" she blubbered as she looked to the sky, assuming that is where he would come from, snot ran down her nose, bubbling as she shouted into the sky.

David looked down at the small one in exasperation. He had heard her wish, he had heard him and was already dreading what was to come, so he turned to look down at the tree in his hands. For a few minutes after the girl shouted her wish, David would do nothing. Nothing except sit in his seat and carve the wood in his hands. Slowly, David stopped his carving of the current tree he was working on and put it to his other side where the pile of trees was, followed by placing his carving knife on top of the trees as well. Standing sightly so he could turn and face the small one, David would slowly sit himself down and look directly at the child which sat huddled in his furs.

David would look at her for another full minute. Simply looking at her. Making no moves, simply just sitting there looking at her.  "I cannot do that." David said suddenly, giving no preemptive moves before hand to allow the small one to prepare herself. "I cannot bring back your dead father, small one." David said once more to drive the point home, in a completely neutral tone. David sat, and watched the small one react.

"Thats what you meant, by not magical ones" she whispered. It was as if she were getting stronger every second, starting as this frozen girl who was about to be taken from this world, to this little child now sitting, understanding and accepting that her father was gone. "For my first wish....can you take me to Robelle....I...i have family there" she said softly. She stood up holding her empty shotgun. "For my second wish.....can you...can you tell me what marines are?" she said curiously, not entirely giving anything away, as she stood to her full tiny height, the child would pick up the fur and rap it around herself, her feet crunching in the snow as she shivered. [color=blue]"For my third wish.....could you make it so that I don't ever have to feel cold again?" she said crunching her teeth together. "I hate the snow" she said shivering once more.

She would wipe her snotty nose against the fur, her heart broken and shattered she no longer needed to cry, why cry, why scream? Why do any of that when you can do something better. At five years old a child would begin to crave revenge for her fathers killer, revenge that would surely take her down dark paths. She would have to learn from the best, learn from the one person her father had told her to never go to...."Sorry Papa, but I gotta go" she said as she turned her head, looking to the place where her and her fathers cabin had previously been, the night sky hiding most of the smoke that was fizzling out.

David looked down at the small one who had just thoroughly surprised him. Enough so he scratched the side of his head in confusion, the small one had acted outside of what he had thought she would. David had been expecting slow realization of what he had said and then start crying, instead he received was complete understanding like he had explained how he shot his arrows from his bow. It caught David unprepared, hence his sitting their dumbfounded for a moment. Dealing with small ones obviously wasn't something David should do often, if this one encounter was enough to leave him dumbfounded he shuddered at the thought of caring for more then one at a time.

David looked down once more at the small one who was done making her requests, two of which he could do... Wither he could actually answer the second was up for debate though. Most he knew of Marines, the world tingling the back of his mind, was what his master had said in his hearing. Something about them being incompetents? David didn't know. He never met one before. The last one, however, was outside of what David was actually capable of. "I can take you, yes." David began speaking, reaching down his hand palm up and pressed it into the ground so it was the same level of the small one's feet. "Though I must admit ignorance to what a Marine is. The person I live with calls them 'incompetents' or 'idiots' but besides that I cannot tell you. I haven't met one yet." once the small one was in David's hands, he would grab the trees he was cutting and put them under his arm pit. He could of carried it this way before, but didn't particularly care to. An over site on his part to be sure. "I can warm you with a fire small one, but that is the best I can do." Speaking of said fire, David would raise his foot and slam it down on the bonfire that was still lit, putting it out before it could even burn David's large form. Once he had collected the small one, put out the fire, and acquired his future arrows, he would start walking towards Robelle

"You...you are warm" Melissa said, still holding the fur cover that David had provided her, Melissa would position herself in his hands so that she was comfortable. "I...I don't like them....marines....they hurt my daddy" she said pulling the covers closer to her. "Whats it like being a giant? I wish i was super tall. I could squish the bad people with my toes" Melissa said matter of factly. Nodding her head as she spoke as if she being a tall ass giant would solve all of her problems. "So......what do you do? I...I never saw a giant around here before, a big big big tall man would be hard to miss right...do you have ninja powers? can you go invisibamal" Melissa asked excitedly, an invisible giant man would just be the greatest thing in the world. Surely this giant would think so too.

"My aunt lives in Robelle, the big huge house with all the kids. She's a nice woman, scary but nice" Melissa said trying to convince herself, in all honestly she disliked the woman, but she was her relative, her fathers sister and he had always told her if she needed someone to look after her, if he was no longer around that she should go there, that she would be well looked after, well kept. Yet the scary old lady was certainly not Melissa's favourite person. "She looks like a witch" the young kid said softly.

David's long stride, as well as him being a giant, meant that the landscape went past relatively fast. Easily as fast as a horse moving at a trot's pace, though he could move faster if he started running, but there was no need for such things. David didn't know exactly how far this 'Robelle' was, though if it was the town he always saw from atop the mountain then he could reach it within the hour. If only just with his current pace.

The small one was speaking in his hand again, it did seem to enjoy talking to him. Not that David had a clue why, most of the people on top of the mountain were fine enough not talking to him. Most seemed to ignore his existence unless he needed something important, even then they did it reluctantly. Was all very strange to him. The small one was different however. Not only did she seem to enjoy speaking to him, she also never gave him room to answer. Jumping from one topic to the next seemingly at random. Was quite strange to David who had to think out his answers before he said anything.

With but a few minutes to think, he would begin speaking. "Thank you? I do not believe I am any warmer then a normal person, small one." David said, with a cock of his head. "Hmm, if marines hurt your father, then they must of either had a reason, or were simply bad men as you say." David nodded to the small one, in acknowledgement of what she had said. "Being a giant? Strange and trying at times. For you see, I have to try very hard not to hurt the smaller ones around me." David would say, as he foot knocked over a tree which was in his way. "Ninja powers? I have never heard of such a thing, so I do not believe I have those. Not invisibility. though I do not see how that power is very helpful. But to answer your question, I live atop the tallest mountain, shooting ships that bare a black flag. It was what I was told to do you see." David said, his voice turning reminiscent. "My owner apparently bought me so I would do such things. He also tends to have me shoot targets so to impress his guests. Seems pointless to me, but I do not know as much as he seems to." David would finish, nodding his head sagely.

David would go silent for a few moments before he would turn to the small one and ask the small one; "What is a witch?"

"Owner?" Melissa would say in a rather confused voice. "Thats a strange way of saying mamma or pappa" The young girl would say with a gentle giggle, pushing on the Giants finger. "OOOOOH, a black sail, my Daddy used to have a BIG BIG BIG BIG SHIP" Melly said, emphasising the word big and screaming the word ship, when she said big, and the bigs after that she would steadily stretch out her arms until they were as wide as they would go. "But he never let me play on it and then one night there was a big KABANG and it was sunk and playing with the fishies" she said as she pulled the fur up a bit more. "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A WITCH IS" Mel shouted in shock.

"Okay, so get this. Witches are ugly, they have like big noses and pimples every where. they usually have like a group, two or three who they call "Sisters" she said in air quotes. "They have magic and they can do all kinds of things, like fly on broomsticks, make potions and do like spells that let them shoot fireballs or levitate things or even transform people into other things. Once I swear I had a friend, Tigan who annoyed my Aunt, next day, my aunt gave us all a present. A mouse, but Tigan was no where, SHE TURNED HER INTO A RAT" Melissa said her eyes wide. "They suck the souls out of young children to stay young and beautiful....but really....it doesn't work with my aunt, shes a witch but she's still ugly and old" Melissa said sitting down scratching her head.

"Maybe Tigan got adopted" she said shrugging as she looked back towards the town which was now coming into view. "Oh....yay" she said her voice dropping, saddened and honestly not thrilled to be seeing this town. "Can I come visit you in your "Owners" house?"
