Roma Velts

"There are just as many ways for me to hurt you then their is to heal you."
-Roma Velts-"

Roma was in the bathroom in her private quarters on her ship, she had just dried her hair and was beginning to tye it into a ponytail style that was left somewhat loose. She wore a blue shirt with two white lines going towards her stomach before descending downward with a white line in the dead center and the sleeves an even darker color with the ends also white, she wore black jeans with the same white lines descending downward all the way to her gray boots along with  black gloves with the outlines also white and a pale blue scarf wrapped around her neck, to finish off her outfit she wore a black jacket with a hood to protect her from the cold and a black belt.

Outfit:

Roma walked out of the bathroom and to the foremost corner of her private quarters grabbing her staff, she twisted it slightly separating it into two bladed daggers and put them through the slits of the belt.

She then went into her desk drawer pulling out her den mushi and pressing the side button to turn it on, "This is Commodore Roma, Commodore Suzu please report to the deck of my ship. Please come in regular civilian clothes you can comfortably move around in." Roma turned back off the den mushi and started to make her way up to the deck to wait for Commodore Suzu.

Suzume was up early as always for her morning walk and had since returned to her office working on reports at her leisure. None of them were really due anytime soon but she figured she ought to take this chance to get them out of the way. That also meant that should anything urgent suddenly come up she could just drop everything she was going and attend to the matter at hand. It had been some time now since the new team was formed under Roma and she was expecting an update on their supposed tasks any day now.

As if right on cue, the Den Den Mushi on her table suddenly began to ring and Suzume promptly answered the call. It was Roma after all. Her message was short and to the point. The little commodore didn't even get an opportunity to greet her before the call was cut short. She wondered if Roma was in a hurry. If so, then she didn't have time to dawdle.

She quickly gathered her notes and files and neatly placed them back in her drawer to continue later. She thought about what Roma said, to come in civilian clothes, but apart from their first meeting Suzume had never really worn the typical Marine colors. So this was basically telling her to come as is. Her current attire was one of her usual red kimonos tied with a blue sash and bow. Her little wings poped out neatly on her back. Putting on her platform slippers, she stepped out of her office, locking the door behind her, and headed for the port where Roma's ship was docked.

Why her fellow commodore chose to remain stationed on her ship rather than getting a room and office in the base eluded Suzume. Perhaps she was the type who preferred to sleep somewhere familiar. Come to think of it, her own crew remained stationed on her ship. Though in her chief officer's case, it was because she couldn't bear to part with the room she claimed for herself there and all her belongings. That was just the kind of person she was.

"Onee-sama~!"

Speak of the devil. Just as Suzume had made it down to the port, a young winged girl with long pink hair called out to her, descending from the sky. She may not have looked the part, dressed in a revealing white tunic and sandals, but this was her chief officer and navigator, Ensign Callista. As if emulating the little commodore, this girl too wasn't fond of wearing the typical Marine garb and dressed as she pleased. If she had recalled correctly the ensign was supposed to be overseeing the ship's routine maintenance.

"Excellent timing Onee-sama. The engineer just finished the maintenance check. The Kotobuki is in excellent shape and ready for your inspection."

"That's good to hear, but I have another appointment right now Ensign Callista. I've been summoned by Commodore Roma."

Callista's eyes widened and then narrowed as though she suddenly had one of her 'ideas'. Suzume knew this look all too well. Rather than risk being late for the meeting with Roma, she decided to just allow the inevitable. As she walked on heading for Roma's ship, Callista followed closely behind her.

"She's the leader of this new team correct? I should take this opportunity to introduce myself don't you think so?"

Suzume let out a sigh. There was no need to respond to that question. Roma's ship was soon within view and the pair stepped onboard spotting the other commodore standing on the deck waiting.

"Commodore Roma! Good to see you!"

Suzume would greet and wave as she approached. She would immediately notice that Roma wasn't in her typical clothes. In fact Suzume had not seen this look of hers before. Somehow the redhead could sort of guess the nature of what they were doing today and the significance of needing to wear civilian attire.

"I believe you haven't met yet. This is my chief officer and navigator Ensign Callista. She had been wanting to have a chance to meet you and tagged along."

"Ensign Callista, at your service ma'am!"

The pink haired girl did a quick salute, standing a short distance behind Suzume. She had her professional face on without a trace of the playfulness she was showing just a while ago. Despite her personality, she knew when it was time for business. For that, Suzume was grateful.

Roma Velts

"There are just as many ways for me to hurt you then their is to heal you."
-Roma Velts-"

As Roma waited for Commodore Suzume to arrive she dived her left hand into her jean pocket pulling out a rolled up piece of document sealed tight in a cylinder container, the documentation was of grave importance for the day as it was the key to the operation of today's agenda. Roma out of the corner of her saw small black dots in the sky, she tilted her head looking upwards to see Commodore Suzume touching down onto her ship with a....guest.

Commodore Suzume immediately greeted her and announced the person she was with was Ensign Callista, her chief officer as well as her navigator and that she actually had wanted to meet her for quite some time apparently. Once Ensign Callista introduced herself Roma visibly smiled although her eyes were partly shrouded by the hood, "A pleasure to meet you Ensign Callista and good to see you in good spirits, Commodore Suzume. However, for today both of you can just call me Roma as I will be referring to you as Suzume and Callista, although this is a mission it's important to think of it as a personal day where you are not restricted by my authority."

Roma showed Callista and Suzume the document sealed in the cylinder container, "Today's objection is simple, requiring a base of operations within the city. This is important for two reasons, the first being that the city is a large utopia of sorts on the island and the culprits were hunting down are no doubt doing business there and it will do us no good being outside the city and away from the action, the second is that we need to establish a network base within the city to expand our eyes and ears more than just the people in our squad to not arouse suspicion before we find Craif and Captain Yua"

"Although this is not so much as a benefit to the mission and more so to us, the city on this island is quite advanced and being inside its limits with access to all its technology and knowledge will greatly benefit everyone's particular expertise. Any questions so far?"

Roma seemed welcoming enough to Callista's presence. Suzume took it as an acknowledgement that the ensign was free to come along if she wished. There wasn't anything else in particular that the little commodore needed her to do anyway. Allowing her to accompany them meant Suzume could also count on her unique perspective on things. No doubt extra eyes and minds would be helpful on this mission.

Roma proceeded to layout the plan for today's activity. This was a familiar spiel to Suzume. The commodore had already mentioned it a while back during their first meeting about securing a base of operations within the city. What was new was that it seemed she intended to set up this base with a civilian front. There were a number of advantages to this, the foremost of which was masking their identities as Marines in the city from anyone snooping around while allowing them to gather information without drawing as much suspicion. The second was that acquiring a base in the city would also mean they would undoubtedly gain access to technology in the city. Despite her more traditional background, Suzume was not a stranger to the benefits of technology with regard to her craft. She too had personal interest in this.

Callista took all of this new information in stride. She was the chief officer and manager of Suzume's ship so planning and the like were up her alley. The moment Roma mentioned that there were personal benefits involved here apart from being relevant to the mission, her eyes lit up and a number of possible money-making schemes flowed through her mind. If there was something she could do to swing things in Suzume's favor, then she was eager to find an opening to do so. The little commodore could only imagine the plotting going on in her head in those moments. The pink haired ensign decided to remain silent though and left the comments and questions to her commanding officer.

"I suppose one benefit of this island not being under the World Government is that it also allows us to consider options that wouldn't normally be done following regular Marine protocols. Out of curiosity, how are we funding this acquisition? I can imagine obtaining a property in the city won't come cheap."

Suzume was pretty sure that Roma must have gone through the proper channels to secure whatever they needed for setting up a base. This question was more for Callista's benefit who wasn't quite familiar yet with the commodore's character. The redhead didn't want her ensign getting the wrong ideas. If all goes well, there shouldn't be any funny business or shady dealings involved in this endeavor at all. Or at least that's what Suzume hoped.

"There are just as many ways for me to hurt you then their is to heal you."
-Roma Velts-"

Fellow Commodore Suzume seemed to be contemplating other various situations but then she eventually spoke, she acknowledged that Karakuri benefits were that they were out of World Government jurisdiction and it allowed them to move about freely without worry of breaking the usual protocols. However, she seemed to be worried about the method of how she was securing such a building as she expressed her worry about obtaining the property.

Roma had long since realized the precarious situation before them on obtaining property on Karakuri, by posing as regular civilians it resolved the problem of being looked at as threats due to affiliation to the World Government, Roma even went as far as to not make her home anywhere near the base  on the outskirts of the city and her ship did not carry the usual logo of the Marines, by all means she kept herself unaffiliated with the only way to tell she was a Marine were the clothes of her men which she kept on the ship, but after their objective was done she would need to buy them all fresh clothes so they could go around the city freely.

Roma turned her attention back to Suzume as she realized her thoughts and gaze wandered off into the distance in her thoughts, "You have nothing to worry about Suzume." Roma dug into her right-side pocket pulling out a large stack of beli kept together by a rubber band, "This is ninety-five million beli that I have saved up since I been recruited into the marine's, this will be enough to completely buy out one of the old factories abandoned in the city that I was able to find through an anonymous source in the city. If everything goes the way its suppose to we will have a base of operation by the end of the day." Roma slipped the money deeply back into her right pocket, "If that is all let's go, for the sake of retaining normalcy until we establish connections with the people in the city we stop half a mile out of the city and walk the rest of the way. I assume you would want to keep a low profile due to you're natural heritage being quite rare?"

Once her question was answered Roma would lift herself into the air using her devil fruit ability on herself and begun to make her way towards the outside of the city. On the way, she got curious and felt the need to ask Suzume about her history, "So what made you join the marines? As you know the health care is terrible~" Roma said jokingly with a small slightly feminine giggle in between her words that even surprised herself causing her to immediately cover her mouth, "Sorry." she said through her mouth almost like a whisper out of old habit

Perhaps she didn't know enough about Roma as she first thought. Suzume was expecting that they had an external collaborator with some vested interest in the parties involved in this mission who was willing to sponsor them. Certainly Roma actually making the purchase from out of her own pocket was one of the least things she had considered. The blonde commodore's background suddenly became more intriguing. And if Suzume found this unusual, you could bet that Callista was even more 'fascinated' by this development. It took every bit of her restraint to refrain from firing off a barrage of likely personal questions. This was not the time for that yet.

After explaining how the transaction was expected to go, Roma added that when heading there they would walk from half a mile out from the city rather than fly in directly. It was a reasonable course of action if their goal was to not draw attention.

"There's no need to be too concerned about that. It's not because of my rare heritage that refrain from flying when it's unnecessary. I simply grew up in a home where walking was the norm and what I was used to. Not that I would lose to anyone flying seriously. These wings are definitely not just for show."

Callista had this smug look on her face while Suzume was speaking, nodding in silent agreement to everything that the little commodore said as though she was proud of her. She was slightly surprised however when Roma suddenly lifted herself into the air despite not having any wings or any visible equipment assisting her in doing so. Suzume took to the skies as well and Callista followed suit, still a bit puzzled.

There was quite a bit of distance from the city so a little conversation along the way would inevitably happen. Roma seemed to be interested in how they ended up with the Marines. For most people that question was probably standard fare, but for Suzume and Callista, it wasn't quite a tale of fond memories. With Roma's joking tone when asking the question, the pink haired ensign almost spoke up, likely to say that it was a sensitive personal matter, but Suzume silenced her with a gaze.

"My father, or I suppose you could say our father was retired officer in the Marines. But at some point he had to re-enter the service in his old age. I was concerned for him and so enlisted myself once I was able to in order to assist him. Sadly he is no longer with us, but I've decided to remain with the Marines in his honor. There are a few things I'd like to accomplish myself in the organization."

For the first time since her introduction, Callista chimed in to say her part.

"I enlisted to follow Onee-sama, I mean Commodore Suzume. It's barely been a year actually since I joined, but I made sure to be assigned under her."

That was true. The girl had been stuck to Suzume like glue since the first time they ever met. Back then Suzume was even taller than she was. Genes were unfair sometimes.

"For the record, I don't believe the health care is terrible. It's just the matter of the work hazards being more perilous than your average company."

Normally this was the part where she would return the question and ask Roma about her reason for joining the Marines. But between Suzume and Callista, the more curious tidbit of information to them was the obvious.

"Your ability to fly... is it from a Devil Fruit?"

Suzume was about 90% sure that was the case. There were all kinds of fruits and powers and she wouldn't be surprised if there was one that existed that granted the ability of flight without wings. Also it didn't seem like Roma was hiding anything under her clothes that she could use to fly. It would be a surprise if she was proven wrong. Behind Suzume, Callista had a curious expression as well, eager to know the secret behind this mystery.

Roma Velts

"There are just as many ways for me to hurt you then their is to heal you."
-Roma Velts-"

Roma let out a small breath of air at the realization that Suzume nor her commanding officer Callista didn't hear her small outburst of laughter, to most it was just a laugh and was easily overlooked but as a young girl she was taught that it was bad to show any of feminine side as it blew her cover as a male but even know it still seemed to be a habit that Roma had trouble letting go of.
Answering her question Commodore Suzume began to explain that her father was also a marine officer although retired, for some reason he had to re-enter in his olden age in which she enlisted to help him when she was of age, she didn't go into great detail but her father passed eventually and she stuck with the marine's to honor his memory as well as accomplish a few dreams of her own. Callista also chimed in saying she just followed Suzume in which she called her Onee-sama meaning they were rather close if not downright siblings.

She also referred to her earlier joke stating that their health care wasn't terrible but rather the job came with more perils then the average job, Roma face twisted a bit as she didn't want to admit it but Commodore Suzume was definitely right. After that there was a moment of silence between the three until Commodore Suzume broke the veil with a question of her own as she asked if her ability to fly was caused by her devil fruit ability, "To be more accurate my ability to fly is just one of the applications of my devil fruit, my ability as far as I know it is removing the gravity of non-living solids and liquids by touch that I can manipulate with hand movements. Another way to look at it is me adding a dome around a object that only I can manipulate which is how I'm flying right now."

Roma slightly glanced towards Callista, "By the way I noticed how you looked at me earlier when I pulled out the money. Let me assure you I'm not rich and in a matter of fact I come from a family of maid's and butlers, I'm just real good at saving money and my profession happens to earn me a lot of money. In fact I joined the marine's after my mother and father and I lost our jobs working for a wealthy family that went bankrupt.

Admittedly for Suzume, removing the gravity of an object was just a fancy way of saying she could fly and make other things fly too. Physics were not her field of expertise so there wasn't any real meaningful difference to her. Callista on the other hand was a little surprised that Roma was willing to divulge so much information about her devil fruit. People often hid these things even among allies. It was not a behavior that her sneaky and devious persona found much merit in, but she kept her thoughts to herself. Suzume found that her question was sufficiently answered and so out of respect for Roma's secrets she decided not proceed with any more queries regarding powers.

Roma seemed pretty comfortable talking about herself though. Certainly when she first mentioned that she would be funding the project from her own pocket it would have been a reasonable guess to think that she might have been from a wealthy background. However in Suzume's opinion it was even more noteworthy that someone who claims to not be that well off would devote a significant portion of their own resources for the sake of a mission. While it was true that there was also some personal stake here, it was still quite a sizable investment. And to have the decisiveness to make use of it in these circumstances proved that Roma had her eye on bigger things. This mission was just an excuse or a stepping stone for that. That was the impression that the little redhead commodore had. Callista who was the one being addressed nodded, showing an expression of interest at the recent reveal.

"I hope your venture pays off then Miss Roma. I understand that this is also for the sake of the mission, but I personally wouldn't be spending that amount of money without a confident plan to earn it back with a profit. As Suzume-neesan can attest, I too have had my share of troubles with managing limited assets due to circumstances beyond my control."

"There's no need to put Roma on the spot Callista. I'm positive that she has given this more than enough thought. We will just have to trust her and do our part."

It was interesting to get a little more background on the blonde commodore. In a way they had both come from humble beginnings and things just sort of happened that caused them to end up in their positions today. Not everyone had a firm grasp on the reins of their fate. You just have to make the most of the hand life deals you.

"The city should be coming into view soon. We ought to begin our descent."

Roma Velts

"There are just as many ways for me to hurt you then their is to heal you."
-Roma Velts-"

As she observed the facial expressions of Officer Callista and Commodore Suzume after relaying the workings of her ability she didn't need to read mind's to know that they were wondering why she confided so much of her special ability to them, long term if they decided to betray the marine's and they became on opposite side's of the playing field they could use the information against her but marine's hardly lived long and those who did often stayed on the side of the World Government. At least for now, knowing how her ability could only strengthen their teamwork efficiency.

No longer dwelling on the information of her abilities Callista was the first to speak stating that she hoped that her personal investment into the mission would pay off for her, she mentioned that she herself would not go so far for the sake of a mission and if Roma had to admit she wouldn't usually either. But as she formed Cerulean Enforcer's it gave her the feeling of wanting to put her all into making it the best squad formation the marine force's had to offer and for that goal she was willing to go the distance, even if it meant losing a couple hundred beli along the way.

Eventually their travel to Future City fell silent as each of their own thoughts began rushing through their mind, Roma had let her mind drift to mental training. In the deep recesses of her mind she was reliving the night where she faced Captain Yua, she recreated the image of throwing dirt around the area to reveal Captain's Yua movements to properly defend herself against him. Now that she thought about it how did he disappear, one moment she was dead on his trail the next nothing and then in a split second she was sent flying with his punch, so far the only thing she knew was that he was after a logia fruit which ended up to be misinformation so the real question was did the fruit he eat allow him to become invisible or was it a byproduct similar to her ability to fly.

She was suddenly broke out of her thoughts when Commodore Suzume uttered that they were close to the city and they should begin their descent, "Agreed." Roma began lowing her altitude whilst tilting her body back so her feet were pointing towards the ground for a smooth landing. Roma looked onward towards Future City, she had been close to it this entire time but this was the first time she would be taking a step in and she couldn't help look at it in amazement as compared to Lulusia and her home kingdom it truly looked like they had just went a decade if not a century into the future.

Noticing how she was aimlessly staring she quickly shook her head back and forth breaking herself out of it, "Right, let's go. Me and Commodore Suzume will head to city hall to register, Callista If you be so kind I like you to scope the area out and get a feeling for the people and how they respond to you're presence." If Roma had to say Callista job was more important then their own task as it was vital to the operation to know how the people of the city reacted for them to act accordingly to avoid trouble.

Arriving at the city, Suzume couldn't help but be amazed at the sights. And it seemed she wasn't the only one. Both Roma and Callista had this look of awe on their faces, though the ensign was quick to revert back to a more neutral expression lest other people notice. From their clothes, it was already obvious that they weren't from around there. But at the very least she needed to avoid making the impression that they were tourists that could possibly be taken advantage of. This was not as big an issue for Suzume as, tourist or not, anyone seeing her for the first time would almost always think of her as a little child anyway. It was something that she had resigned herself to. But it wasn't all bad. Sometimes being thought of in that was was an advantage.

Hearing Roma's instructions Suzume was both relieved and anxious about the duty assigned to Callista. On one hand having her wander around gathering information was certainly a good use of her talents. On the other hand, it was hard to say if the ensign was the best person for the job when it came to leaving a good impression. There was a good chance she could draw some unwanted attention. Callista of course was very pleased to be given that assignment and before Suzume could say anything in protest, acknowledged the order.

"I'll have a map of the city before the end of the day. Good luck to you too ma'am and take care of Suzume-neesan."

Suzume sighed and handed over her Den Den Mushi so that they could contact each other again later. With a playful wink, the pink haired girl turned around and disappeared into a crowd of people.

"As her superior and guardian, I have my worries. But at the same time, I well aware that she can take care of herself. I suppose my anxiousness comes from being in a new place, and one that doesn't have the influence of the government."

"So, what exactly are we registering for? A pass to do business in the city? Is there anything you need on my end?"

As an officer whose experience was managing supply lines in the rear and running a restaurant before that, Suzume was no stranger to handling documents and requirements for engaging in business in towns and cities. It wasn't always as straightforward as showing up and having enough money on you to buy whatever. Sometimes certain places would have strict regulations that you had to follow. Moreover this was a city not under the jurisdiction of the world government and so there was a good chance there were rules here that they had to know and follow before they could do something as big as obtaining property.

To be honest, if Roma had informed her beforehand that their project involved actually purchasing a base of operations, Suzume would have done the research prior. It was something that was already on her list of things to do whenever she would visit the city. But this was her first visit. It was no use fretting over it now. She would just have to follow Roma's lead.

Suzume visibly looked worried as she handed Callista her den den mushi so they could stay in contact with each other, Roma continued too look onwards as Suzume expressed some amount of worry out loud that part of her internal struggle was that they were in unfamiliar territory without world government backing, Roma didn't say anything but she also shared that concern as one of the few superior officers on the island and the other unknown reasons he didn't speak about was that the place to register their meeting involved talking to one of the executives of the Chinjao family who was in charge of businesses, they didn't intend to cause trouble but if things got dicey Callista information could prove as another resource for them to tap into.

"She will be fine, you trained a very capable soldier." Was all Roma said outloud, Suzume might have heard her as she asked what exactly were the documents were to be registered for and if she could do anything to help, "Not likely, the way to operate business is to have documents approved by a citizen of Future City, this documents were signed by a Ensign from the island who volunteered to put his name out for us to help. Only thing to do is show the proof of documentation and hope for the best, I have faith it will go well and if it doesn't I have other ways I rather not tap into."

Roma continued walking heading down the road heading for Future Cities main administration building, at first what was just ice and old looking buildings was quickly overcame by newer buildings with a clean and polished look as they passed the main entrance and was in the city, although it had already been clear from the outside there was no doubt in Roma's mind that the city had technology far surpassing the one's that marine HQ was accustomed to using. She knew her main objective in the city was to capture Captain Yua and the revolutionary but if she could perhaps take some of the technological advancements with her it could prove a valuable asset to the World Government.

"With all this technological advancement one has to wonder what type of food they sell here, I know were on business but the cold has made me quite famished. How about we take retreat in their restaurants and grab a bite, perhaps it could give you some inspiration on new dishes."

Roma briefly explained the procedures for doing business. It really wasn't too complicated at all at first glance. But it seemed she was still wary that things might not go smoothly for other reasons. To be honest Suzume wasn't fully aware how the rulers of this island viewed Marines or even outsiders in general. Those in the port town were good people, but entering Future City felt like coming into another world. The disparity was quite noticeable with all the technology all around them. And speaking from experience, access to "power" like this tended to make certain people behave in certain ways. Hopefully she was just overthinking it. Still it was the correct course of action for Roma to prepare an alternative just in case.

"Let's hope it goes well then."

She walked alongside Roma as they made their way to the main administration building. The structures in the surrounding area were even more impressive than when they first arrived. It wasn't an understatement to feel like they did step into a different world. Then again Suzume was more used to simpler life. Even the cooking that she knew could be considered old fashioned and traditional. When Roma brought up taking a detour to try some local food, she was of course very interested. There must be cooking tools and equipment here that she had never heard of being used to make things she had never tasted.

"If we are still good on time then I have no objections. Father always had a bit of a bias against overly fancy gadgets used in cooking. Simplicity and technical skill on the part of the chef was what he favored. For me this is a good opportunity. As for whether or not what they make here will be good enough to inspire me... we'll just have to see."

As someone who was a maelstrom for learning Suzume was eager to see what technology brought to the table in terms of preparing food. Perhaps she too can find something to personally invest in in this city. This train of thought reminded her of Callista again. That girl probably already found a couple of things she wanted to take advantage of by now. But there was nothing to worry about yet. The fact that she hasn't called yet meant she was staying out of trouble so far.

Roma Velts

"There are just as many ways for me to hurt you then their is to heal you."
-Roma Velts-"

Suzume showed no objection to the idea as long as time would allow it, Roma had actually planned the meeting to be nearly two hours from now giving them some time to explore in which she herself was going to explore the area as she instructed Callista to do, but with more hands and her task already given to a possible more capable officer Roma sought it out as a chance to heighten her fellow commodore's own particular expertise, she herself was interested in the medical advancements of Future City compared to the rest of the world but for now her own needs could wait since the opportunity to explore the food advancements was looming over them.

"Now that we agree I wonder what would be good to eat around here." Roma began looking around at all the restaurant shop names trying to find a particular cuisine that spoke out to her among the rest as they kept walking, at first none of them spoke to her until they approached the seventh shop that read, "Molecular Ramen". Roma stopped and hummed at the prospect of what the sign meant for the taste of the food, "Hey Suzume what about this restaurant, it looks rather interesting, don't you think? How about we go inside, my treat."

Suzume was surprised to find that there was a plethora of choices for places to eat. For an island with such harsh conditions, a large variety of foodstuffs was one of the last things she was expecting. Perhaps this was all owed to the advanced technology here. In that case she had newfound appreciation for it. Being likely the center of trade probably meant lots of ingredients found their way here somehow, even those that were more difficult to procure. Seeing all this made her wonder if her own food project was even necessary. Maybe all they really needed was better connections with Future City to get the supplies they needed. Still there had to be a catch. She knew for sure a lot these things could only be made using ingredients obtained from outside the island. If so, then price would become a cause for concern.

As they walked, Roma directed her attention to a certain shop selling something that the little commodore found very familiar. Ramen was one such dish that she didn't expect to see there. For the noodles alone, the raw ingredients couldn't possibly grow in Karakuri's climate by normal means. So they were either utilizing some technology to grow them or purchasing them from elsewhere. She didn't understand what 'Molecular' meant however. Was it someone's name? Or did it have something to do with the kind of ramen they made here?

"If I were to think about what makes sense to me, it shouldn't be possible obtain the ingredients for ramen on an island like this. I agree that it sounds interesting. Let us hope that there is actually a clever and affordable secret to this and not just someone purchasing ingredients expensively from another region."

Roma was already about to spend a hefty sum today. Suzume didn't feel it would be right to have her spend even more unnecessarily. Hopefully whatever they served here was worth their money.
